Ponteland Medical Group operates across three sites, dispensing from two. The main site is a modern primary care centre just north of Newcastle. The practice has around 11,000 patients and the team consists of nine GPs (full-time and part-time), two nurse practitioners, three practice nurses and two healthcare assistants. The office manager co-ordinates an administration and dispensing team of 18. Ponteland is a teaching practice and has two registrars attached to it along with both third and final year medical students. Services offered from the practice include minor surgery, minor injuries (co-ordinated by the nurse practitioners) and a contraceptive service with coil and implant fitting.
Cramlington Medical Group is run from a purpose built premises in the heart of Cramlington adjacent to Manor Walks Shopping Centre. The practice has just over 5,000 patients and the team consists of four part-time GPs, two nurse practitioners, two practice nurses, two healthcare assistant and pharmacist. The office manager oversees an admin team of eight dedicated staff. We are working closely with our neighboring practices to increase the range of services we provide our patients. Extended hours are offered on a Thursday evening and we are actively recruiting members to our Patient Participation Group so that we can gain feedback from our service users.
Spring Terrace Health Centre runs from a purpose built health centre in the middle of North Shields. The practice has around 7,000 patients and is led by a team of five part time GPs, clinical pharmacist, practice nurses, healthcare assistants and will soon have nurse practitioner support. Spring Terrace is a training practice meaning future GPs undertake placements at the practice throughout the year. We also provide services to nearby nursing/step-down services in North Shields.
Located in Whitley Bay, 49 Marine Avenue Surgery provides healthcare for around 6,100 patients. The clinical team is led by a team of four GPs, a nurse practitioner, two practice nurses, a healthcare assistant and additional phlebotomy support. The surgery hopes to increase the clinical team in the coming months. In addition, the practice manager leads a reception and administration team of eight people. As a research practice, the surgery participates in a wide range of research projects under the guidance of NIHR Clinical Research Network. They also provide placements for third year medical students in partnership with Newcastle University.
The Rothbury Practice in Northumberland is the latest practice to join NPC, in February 2017. Based in the heart of the town of Rothbury, the practice has over 5,500 patients and the team consists of five GPs, up to two GP Registrars in training, one nurse practitioner, three practice nurses, one healthcare assistant. The practice manager oversees an admin team of nine dedicated staff. The practice also runs a smaller branch surgery in Longframlington. Rothbury has a long established relationship with the Northern Deanery and Newcastle Medical School, training both GP's and Medical Students. It covers a large rural area and has one of the highest patient populations over 75yrs of age in England.
Haydon Bridge and Allendale Medical Practice operates across two sites with approximately 5,500 patients.
The team consists of four GPs, two practice nurses, three healthcare assistants, three dispensers and an administrative and reception team of 15. Dispensing is offered from the Haydon Bridge surgery Late night appointments are offered on alternate Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Haydon Bridge & Allendale is a teaching practice and has two GP registrars attached, along with third and fifth year medical students. The practice is actively involved in research and participates in a wide range of projects under the guidance of NIHR Clinical Research Network.
Elsdon Avenue Surgery is the latest practice to join Northumbria Primary Care, in 2019. Situated in the Northumberland village of Seaton Delaval, this small practice offers a personalised service to its 3,700 patients.
Rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission in 2017, the practice has three GP partners as well as a full nursing and administration team.
