Following our letter to you last year, we are very pleased to be able to confirm that our NPC Lintonville surgery move has been approved and work to refurbish the new site has begun.

Your feedback

We thank those who gave feedback to help inform the decision to move the surgery to what was the Ashington Workspace site on Lintonville Parkway (near Lidl). You can access the full survey results on the NPC Lintonville website. In summary:

• 82% are in favour of the move
• 48% feel there would be no change as to how easy or hard it will be to visit the new surgery
• More than 70% said the most important factors were friendly and professional staff, modern facilities and availability of patient services and parking
• Mental health support came up as the most important service to be offered in the community space
• Patients like the practice name, NPC Lintonville, and want to keep it

The plan and next steps

The contractor, Meldrum Construction, have recently set up site and begun work. It is hoped that the work will be completed by April 2027, as long as everything goes to plan.

The new site, which will be modern, accessible and welcoming, will offer both health and wellbeing services and support. The pharmacy will be on the ground floor, and the GP practice and other health services will be on the ground floor and part of the first floor. There will be lift access to the first floor. A section of the first floor will hopefully be a community space for both patients and residents to access. We are in the early stages of working through what voluntary and community services could be available.

The new site is less than 500 metres from the current surgery and near the main bus station.

It will have more parking – 38 patient parking spaces and 7 disabled bays. There will also be up to 4 EV charging bays and drop-off and vehicle turning areas.
