Fibroscan
This webpage is for people that have been contacted by our practice to offer a Fibroscan.
We can estimate your risk of running into future liver problems from the blood tests we take. We do this using the Fibrosis – 4 index. More information on how we do this can be found here.
If your score shows that your risk is moderate, we ask you to have a special ultrasound scan to measure the stiffness of your liver called transient elastography or a Fibroscan. It is a simple, painless test which gives immediate results. It does not have any potential complications or risks and is non-invasive, which means that it does not break the skin or enter your body.
More information about Fibroscans can be found here.
Your Fibrosis-4 index indicates that this is something we should offer you.
If we’ve sent you a text asking if you’d like to go ahead with the scan please reply “YES” to that text and we’ll ask for the department to contact you to arrange this.
If you’d like to discuss this further or have questions you’d like to ask first please contact the practice via SystmConnect or by giving us a call.
